George Henry Sheaffe (1841-1932)

George Henry, the youngest son of Capt William & Rosalie Danvers Sheaffe, was born at Dapto in 1841 and grew up on his father's farm at Stream Hill, Dapto. At age 17 he left for Queensland for several years before returning to NSW and becoming a surveyor. He surveyed much of the Shoalhaven area as Acting District Surveyor and District Surveyor of Forbes, Cooma and Goulburn. Retiring from Government surveying, he set up private practice in Bowral. His mansion called "Twickenham" is now part of the local public school. He is buried at Bowral.
